Wow, the computer is getting smaller and smaller!

This one has not in the market yet! It will be released by Sprint in 2008…. But Koreans will get them first sometimes in 2007. The brand is by Samsung.

It is awesome! I want that! It says that it may cost 2,000 dollars. That makes sense. Most laptop costs 800 to 1,500, depending on what system you have on. It is not an outrageous price… comparing to other small computer devices I have seen. This one has it all: a screen, keyboard, WiFi access, and a camera built-in.

Some of the mini computer’s specification is possibly rumored. You will see parentheses in the end; that is my opinion:

-5 inch monitor screen (maybe too small, should be probably 7 to 10 inch widescreen; right now some laptops has 12 inch widescreen)

-It will run on Win XP, but by the time in 2008, XP is outdated! (Needs to be Vista or even better Mac OS. ;-) I am a Mac OS fan myself.)

-1GHz processor (not bad, maybe should be either 1.66 to 2.0 GHz. But 2008 can change a lot in technology world. If it is on market right now, 1 GHz on this mini computer is great.)

-30 GB hard drive (Not bad for a mini computer. It is plenty, believe me. 30 GB is 30 billion bytes. Essential programs are between 15 mb to 60 MB each; that is between 15 to 60 million bytes. Only biggest program I know is MsOffice 2003, 400 mb, only Word, Excel and Outlook. I am sure they will have a small version of MsOffice on this mini computer, with probably less than 150-200 MB.)

    • 256 MB memory ram (Not too good, it would be better if it is 512 MB or 1 GB)

    -WiMax and EV-DO built-in

-iSight-esque 1.3 megapixel camera/webcam (Should be more than 1.3… like 2.0 to 2.5. Right now most cellphones and other wireless devices have 1.3 megapixel, and they don’t always take good photos)

-The rumor says they even not know if this is actually working. We will find out eventually if it succeed.

WiMax is very new. It is similiar to T-Mobile Hotspots and Verzion Wireless services. It is by Sprint. It won’t be ready until 2008.

You can view more more pictures on this newly mini computer here.

    Update on Sidekick III

Remember I mentioned about Sidekick III a while ago… I said that the rumor was that the device would come out on June 26th, or was it 23rd – around at that time. Well, Engadget said that it will be launched on July 10th. Is it official?

I heard that Sidekick III may be sold at Cingular, too.

    A New SK III Picture

For month, or at least a year since SK III was discussed, I was sketpical about it. It looks ugly. But today, it does not look bad at all, don't you all agree ?

According to sidekick3.blogspot.com, the image of SK3 with a Jump looks nice. I see that they will have all three Instant Messenging: AIM, Yahoo, and MSN. Nice… it makes me want it now! heh. Again, it is rumored to be out on June 26th.

It has a small trackball. Looks like our thumbs are going to be very sore.

I know, but I am not sure about this new scroll, I mean how easy it is with this trackball. It also is hard to tell if it has page down or page up buttons like SK II does… if so, you have two options to do. We will see how it is when it is out sometimes next month (June).

I was thinking about buying it when it comes out, because SKIII has three Instant messaging. I use all three, and I believe you can sign in at once for all three. Well, it is too soon to know.

    iTalk by Apple

When I saw the iTalk ad by Apple, I was in awe and thought I wanted this iTalk right now! As soon as I read more about iTalk on Interest, it crushed me badly to know this is a fake ad. I knew that Apple is working on a cellphone with iPod. So I thought I would want to see what it looks like. I know that Apple has a way of making things very cool and different. Apple always has great creativity. I admired Apple for that.

Before you see the ad, you will get a first glimpse of iTalk below:

Now you can watch its fake ad (too bad) but it is really awesome!

Ohh, digg.com says that this one only last two minutes of battery… that sucks.

There was OQO, then now there is UX

I mentioned OQO in late 2004. You can read the entry, but it is not much to be said in there. I re-visited that site, and apparently it has improved with cool features, such as handwriting on the mini computer, such as notetaking, joting on “sticky” pads”, and writing in email. I think it is really cool! I beleive it works only on Windows XP Tablet Edition.

    >47d942b0a05d953e47ca1642cd0fe3a4.jpg

However, the OQO costs starting from $1,899.00. It is pretty expensive.

    The OQO tech specification:

    • 1 GHz processor
    • 30GB HD
    • 512MB RAM
    • Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth®
    • USB 2.0, FireWire®
    • audio
    • thumb keyboard
    • 800×480 indoor/outdoor readable LCD (ships with: removable lithium polymer battery
    • docking cable
    • desktop stand
    • universal power supply
    • carrying sleeve
    • digital pen.)

Not only OQO that is the smallest computer, but there is also another smallest computer, similiar to OQO called Sony VAIO UX.

    via [Engadget]

Nice…Now OQO has a completion. I don’t know which one I would choose, but UX seems cooler than OQO. The processor of UX is faster than OQO. OQO is 100 dollars more expensive than UX.  It is very competive.

    The UX tech specification:

    • Intel® Core™ Solo Processor U1400 (1.20 GHz)1
    • Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional with Service Pack 2
    • Integrated Wireless Wide Area Network (WAN)132 accessing Cingular Wireless National EDGE Network with SmartWi™ technology
    • 512MB RAM and 30GB hard drive4
    • 4.5″5 Wide SVGA LCD, Touch Screen

It will cost $1799.00, and come out in July.

You can check the demo of UX at sony.com (japan version). You can view more images of UX at jkOnTheRun. You can watch a short teaser of UX at learningcenter.sony.us.

    It is coming …

    Hello Sidekick III

    54d8b1a546dad924c448e3377d73a75e.jpg

It is rumored that it will come in mid June (to be exact, June 26).

Also, it is rumored that T-Mobile will stop selling Sidekick II anytime soon.

    Update via [lifehacker]:

    9278763b32059d21e659764aad615941.jpg

I’m third party dealer for T-Mobile, and after calling up today to place the weekly order for phones, I was informed that the Sidekick II has officially been discontinued by T-Mobile. They are stating a mid-June launch for the Sidekick III, and if anyone wants a Sidekick II they’ll have to hurry up and try and pick one up on the cheap before inventory dries up, as they can no longer be ordered from the carrier.
