I usually read Washington Express. But when Washington Examiner comes to the town, I read more on Washington Examiner. I like Washington Examiner better than Washington Express. Why ? Washington Examiner puts Sports to the last few pages while Washington Express in the middle. I don’t read Sports. Not only that reason, but there is also another one: how it looks. The Examiner design looks much cooler than the Express. The Soduku in Examiner has more room in boxes than in Express. Unfortunately when I came to metro in the morning around 9:30 to 10:00 AM, the Examiner seems not be available for me to pick up. I was not sure if it is ’sold out’ or they never put any in there. If it is sold-out, I can see why. It is a better newspaper.
A few months ago, I read somewhere about The Onion will come in our Washington Metro area in paper newspapers. The Onion, dubbed America’s Finest News Source, is a popular news website, founded by students at University of Wisconsin in 1988. It is filled with variety of news from Local to Politic to Sports to Science/Tech to Entertainment to Education. It is the Gen-X satiric newspaper. The age range of 18 and 44 are reading The Onion online. The Onion already have distributed in paper newspaper to 9 cities. Washington DC will be their tenth city. Washington Post will be paid for its business services. It will be in news boxes at metro stations and by hawkers on April 5th. I am looking forward to reading the newest newspaper in the town!
One of the cities’ The Onion newspaper looks like that all the way below. I noticed that they costs 50 cents each, but we, Washingtonians, will get them for FREE. How nice. Thanks to Washington Post. I have excrepted an quotation from Washington Post article. You can read more in Washington Post here.
“We believe that The Onion will be very well-received among young Washingtonians, and this is a very attractive opportunity for us to provide our advertisers with a new and unique way to reach that attractive young audience
Christopher MA, Post Co. Vice President
Now who will read more: The Onion, Washington Examiner or The Washington Express? Mmm, we will shall see…
I was stumbling upon on one of CNN’s articles. One grabbed my attention: Harry Potter. I love Harry Potter series. I have whole collection. I am waiting for the 7th and final book. This one will be a hulking 784 pages. That is almost 800 pages! Dang! It must be that GOOD! It better be!
Last month or two, they just annouced a new Harry Potter title, which is… “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” It is an interesting title. The Deathly Hallows? Did it was once mentioned in one of these books? Remember one time where Harry, Ron and his family, and Hermaine went to Quidditch World Cup. The group, very bad ones, attacked the campers. Are they the Deathly Hallows? If not, what are they? I forgot. It has been a while since I read that book. I am just curious, and wonder if that is the same group… that is all. Well, it sounds like something major will happen badly. That is a scary thought.
It said that the final Harry Potter book will be the biggest, but also the greenest! The Rainforest Alliance and Scholastic, Inc. are working on publishing on recycled papers. Would it be the first novel coming out in recycled papers? I wonder. They said that the first 12 million would be in recycled papers.
I have excerpted parts of the article below what they had agreed:
*The paper used will contain “a minimum of 30 percent post-consumer waste (pcw) fiber.”
*Nearly two-thirds of the 16,700 tons of paper will be approved by the Forest Stewardship Council, an international organization with a mission to “promote environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests.”
*A “deluxe” edition of the new book, which has a first printing of 100,000, will be printed on paper that contains “100 percent post-consumer waste fiber.”
I got an email from a friend about Pepsi. This implied that Pepsi is Unpatrotic because they left two words out: ‘Under God’ in the Pledge of Allegiance and it has Empire Building pictures on the can.
First of all, I love Pepsi. But I have nothing to do with the religion here. I just was puzzled about this one. So I decided to research a bit on that and I found the similiar message that I got in email to see if that is true. Well they said it is not true. They got mixed up with Dr. Pepper. The Dr Pepper did leave two words out, “Under God.’ I believe the reason they thought it was Pepsi because of their new look on the cans. You can view the design of the cans here. It is nice.
You know that the rumors can be very dangerous. Rumors can cause a lot of trouble. It can easily be misinformed.
This one is from the site called truthorfiction.com below. You can find that link here.
I’ll buy Coke!
Pepsi has a new patriotic can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Bldg. and the Pledge of Allegiance on them. But Pepsi forgot two little words on the pledge, “Under God.” Pepsi said they did not want to offend anyone.
If this is true then we do not want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office. If we do not buy any Pepsi product then they will not receive any of our monies. Our money after all does have the words “Under God” on it.
Please pass this word to everyone you know. Tll your Sunday School class tomorrow and tell your Pastors so that they can tell the whole congregation. We want the words “under God” to be read by every person who buys a can
This version below that I got from email:
Don’t buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new “patriotic” can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building , and the Pledge of Allegiance on them. However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge, “Under God.” Pepsi said they didn’t want to offend anyone.
In that case, we don’t want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either! So if we don’t buy any Pepsi product, they will not be offended when they don’t receive our money that has the words “In God We Trust” on it.
You can check about the Dr. Pepper leaving two words out, “Under God” from truthorfiction.com here.
The excerpt below:
As you may or may not have heard, Dr Pepper is coming out with a patriotic set of soda cans. The problem is that one of the cans will have the Statue of Liberty on one side and the Pledge of Allegiance on the other. Why is this a problem? Dr Pepper has taken upon themselves to remove “Under God”. The can will read “One Nation, … , Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All”.
This has got to stop. When a handful of people wanted to stop prayer in school, I did nothing. I wasn’t in school any longer so it didn’t seem to bother me. I know this may sound hypocritical for me to now want to be involved, and I really can’t explain why this seems to tear at my heart, but it does. I have children now and maybe that’s the reason. For all of you with children in school, or grandchildren or nieces or nephews, this has touched you more than me. I see the world in the shape that it is in today and worry about the shape that it will be in when my children are older and attend grammer, middle and high school. What part will God play in the future? Will he even have a part?
This action from the Dr Pepper corporate office is no more than an attack on Believers. This does not target any specific denomination. This does not target christians. This is a slap in the face of both Believers in the One True God and Americans in general. My father fought in a war for his country. The Pledge of Allegiance is a symbol of what they were fighting for, just as the flag that waves today. The audicity of any single organization to take it upon themselves to change such an institution as the Pledge of Allegiance is more than I can stand.
I forgot the url address links where I got them from…. next time, I will remember to get them, but I cannot help posting cute pictures of dogs below…
No, it is not my dog above … but it is cute. My dog’s color is much darker brown than that. My dog is hard to take pics of. She cannot stay still when it comes to the camera.
The best picture I got of my dog when I took with my Sidekick device. It needs photo enchancing though. You know how T-Mobile sidekicks are… the camera is 1.3 megapixel:

I have watched The Hills Have Eyes. It is okay. It is a remake film from Wes Craven’s 1977 cult classic THE HILLS HAVE EYES. I have not see the original movie. It has an interesting story behind it. I will try my best to write a summary plot… I hope I remember correctly… It is about the family who went on road trip to CA and got lost. They asked for help and told them to detour the shortcut way, which turned out to be the vast desert out of no where. The family had an unexpected vehicle trouble been down and needed assistance. They realized no one to get help nearby. The Father had to walk back to the gas station to get help. That place had been used for atomic tests and spread radioactive fallout to the vast dessert and caused families of miners to deformed children and illness... While the father was gone, the rest of family had to wait around in the hot weather. But they realized that they were not alone… and they were fighting to get out alive from the prey ou there in the desert … I best stop now. I would not want to say no more, because it would be a spoiler if you have not seen it. I hardly remember if anyone got out alive… It has been a while since the last time I watched it.
Now there will be a sequel to the Hills Have Eyes coming out soon sometimes in 2007. I wonder what will happen now. Mmm… I would watch that sequel movie, even though the first one is okay. I hope the second movie will get better.
Lately, I have read a lot about the newly movie called Pan’s Labyrinth. It said it is on over 130 the top 10 best films of the year list. It has 6 Oscar nods: Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Forgein Language Film, Best Make-up, and Best Art Direction. I thought it has to be very good, so I check that trailer out, and it looks very intriguing … I love fantasy stories. I read alot of fantasy books myself. When I watch this trailer, it makes me want to watch the whole film RIGHT NOW! It has already been out in the theater… but I would need to watch it with subtitle or closed-caption. I would have to wait until the DVD is out. It may be 6 months later… ugh… Cannot wait. I read somewhere said that it’s kinda of a sequel to the Devil’s Backbone. It has no connection whatsoever, but one thing that has in common: it is during the Spanish War.
I have been researching a bit about this title: Pan’s Labyrinth. It is an odd title. I learned that Pan from a Greek myth. Pan is a God who is the half sheep and half man. His power: He looks after after shepherds and woods, and is a capable musician. He leads the nymphs in dances. Pan is responsible for panic. He is the son of Hermes and Penelope (a nymph), or Zeus and Hybris. It is nothing concrete true about it. It is a myth after all, right? But it is interesting to know about him though. I like Greek Mythology. In Roman mythology, they called him another name: Faunus. The image below is Pan and the nymph.
And labyrinth is a maze or a puzzle. Not only in Greek, but different other beliefs about labyrinth. I am not quite familiar with it yet. I am still learning. I believe it is some kind of secret. I am not sure. Looks like Pan has puzzles or secrets in the movie. I will know more when I watch the whole movie. I know that the little girl is believed to be a princess, but she has to do three things to prove she is royalty. I suppose, she has to do the labyrinth journey that Pan (or Faun) gave her a book. Anyone is welcome to comment on labyrinth, I would like to know more. I am still researching on it though. One says such a garden that has bushes that draw like a maze would be called a labyrinth. There are many labyrinth images. I pick one image what the Greek labyrinth looks like below:
The summary plot of that movie:
Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, PAN’S LABYRINTH is a thrilling, violent fairy tale set in post-Civil War Spain. Ivana Baquero stars as Ofelia, a young girl who moves with her mother, Carmen (Ariadna Gil), into the home of Captain Vidal (Sergi López), in an abandoned mill in the middle of dark, dangerous woods. Vidal is leading his team of soldiers against resistance fighters–and he will do whatever is necessary to kill every last one of them. As Vidal bosses around the pregnant Carmen, a flying creature leads Ofelia through a garden labyrinth and into an underground cave ruled by Pan (HELLBOY’s Doug Jones), who believes that Ofelia might be the lost princess of this strange yet magical place. To prove she is royalty, Ofelia must complete three tasks, each more difficult and terrifying than the previous one. Meanwhile, Vidal is becoming more and more paranoid, torturing and murdering seemingly at will. Del Toro (THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE, HELLBOY, CRONOS) creates a marvelous battle between good and evil, between heroes and villains, in both the real world aboveground and the mystical land below. Baquero gives a compelling performance as the terrorized Ofelia, who is befriended by Mercedes (Maribel Verdú), a woman who harbors some secrets of her own. Stellar production design, superb special effects, and a stirring score by Javier Navarrete add to the scary fun. Selected as the closing-night entry in the 2006 New York Film Festival, PAN’S LABYRINTH is a captivating story that is not for the squeamish. [RottonTomatoes]
My friend sent me this email … thought it would be worth of posting here. Enjoy.
A young, well-educated man on a business trip get on a plane to find himself seated next to an older, weathered man in a western snap shirt, faded jeans and a cowboy hat. Thinking himself above the old cowboy, the young man decides to make sport of him.
“You know,” he says, “I’ve heard these flights go much more quickly if you strike up a conversation with a fellow passenger. So, let’s talk.”
The cowboy looks at him wryly and says, “Well I suppose that’d be all right. What’d ya like to discuss?”
“Oh, I don’t know.” says the young man with a hint of sarcasm, “How about Nuclear Proliferation?”
“Hmmm,” says the cowboy, sensing the young man attempt to belittle him, “That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first —horses, cows and deer all eat the same stuff—grass. Yet, a deer passes little pallets, a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse makes muffins of dried poop. Why do you suppose that is?”
Dumbfounded, the young man replies, “I haven’t the slightest idea.”
“So tell me then,” says the cowboy with a smile, “How is it that you feel qualified to discuss nukes when you don’t know shit?”
Are they cute? It reminds me almost like ones that Manny designed his called Mava Dolls. Matty from Mojizu created cuddy creatures called Dreamlets. Each cuddy creature has name. You can check his catalog here.
I never got a chance to get one of Manny’s Mava Dolls. I am sure it is sold out already. They are adorable! I hope he will make some more. I would love to have one!
By the way, check Matty’s website, http://mattyharper.com. It is a cool website. It is different. Also, he has a MojiZu profile there. I need to sign up so I can adopt any characters from MojiZu.
Well I talked to Manny about that. He just told me that he did three series… I did not know about that, either. I have not seen them all… but he told me that last two series are sold out… but his first series, he still have some. I suppose I can get the chance to get one of his Mava dolls.
The video tells a psychedelic storybook come to life, Rabbit spins an eerie childhood fable of the consequence of greed. It is 8 minutes and 20 seconds (08:20). I say it is an odd story yet interesting. I am not sure If I understood this story… Well I would say it is a good animated video. It is different. I will leave up to you to decide if it is good or not.

Interesting.
However, do keep in mind that The Onion is filled with parodies and satires.

I am aware of it. That is why it called Gen-X satiric newspaper.
